A fine grained calcined kaolin that provides good heat and chemical resistance and has a low moisture conten. Useful in tuning the shrinkage and plasticity of slips which are applied to wet, leather hard or dry ware. Because its shrinkage is very low, it can be substituted for part of the regular kaolin and there will likewise be minimal impact on the fired properties.
- WARNING: Contains free crystalline silica, which could lead to silicosis or other lung diseases after very long exposure. IRAC has classified crystalline silica as a carcinogen, based on evidence of carcinogenicity in experimental animals and limited evidence of carcinogenicity to humans.
