No registration necessary, just stop by between 10:00 am and 2:30 pm to participate. Cost is $20 per pot/per person and we'll provide the pot. Give yourself at least 2 hours to glaze your pot and have it fired.

Jon Williams Wheel Throwing

Jon Williams | Wheel Throwing Demonstration at 11am

Jon will demonstrate his unique throwing techniques that show how to work with the rotation and centrifugal force of the potter's wheel. He will begin by showing how to throw basic shapes that will become the foundation for your style and creativity.

More about Jon Williams

Jon began his lifelong career in pottery and clay at University of California Santa Cruz followed by two years as a potter's apprentice to Al Johnsen. Jon spent 25 years making a living as a production potter before turning his attention to tile. Since then he has focused on developing specialized processes for tile production and has built customized equipment for RAM pressing, mold making, slip casting, glaze chemistry and glaze application techniques. Jon joined the glaze and material department of Motawi Tileworks in the summer of 2015.

Marsha Williams Carving

Marsha Williams | Clay Carving at 1pm

Marsha will demonstrate a variety of materials and techniques for creating decorative carved tiles, textured slab patterns and hand stamps for thrown work. 

More about Marsha Williams

Marsha received her BFA in ceramics from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She has had a love and fascination for clay all her life. Spanning a period of 35 years, she has made a career of designing, carving and producing ceramic tile for the national market as well as ceramic objects for pleasure. Marsha joined the production team at Motawi Tileworks in the summer of 2015.
